The Federal Government's Broadcasting Services Amendment (Online Services) Act 1999 will commence operation on 1 January, 2000. Under revised industry arrangements, Internet Service Providers will have responsibility for ensuring the filtering of objectionable content carried by their service. A one day conference/workshop on censorship and other aspects of cyber regulation will be hosted by the School of Computer and Information Science, on Wednesday, 12 April, 2000.
